This conceptual model was unveiled for the first time in 2010 Paris Motor Show, has the experience it has acquired the brand in more than 70 years of building and stylish sports coupe.

A proud tradition: the BMW coupe.

Synonymous with driving pleasure sports coupe models have a special place in the history of the BMW brand. The BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept is the latest chapter in a tradition that goes back 70 years and is rich and full of memorable race victories and many legendary icons of car design.

The milestones in this evolution are the BMW 327 and BMW 327/28, racing coupes based on the BMW 328, BMW 503, BMW 3200 CS, the BMW CS 2000, the big coupe based on the BMW 3.0 CSi and , from 1976 onwards, BMW 6 Series models.

With its impeccable elegance and impressive performance the BMW 327 Coupe, introduced in 1938, quickly established itself as the exclusive model of the brand before the war. With barely an interruption, the dynamic behavior was taken one more step for the BMW 327 / 28, which was taken 80 hp motor sports BMW Model 328 Roadster.

In 1940, a coupe version of a one-time BMW 328, led by Fritz Huschke von Hanstein and Walter Baumer, was the winner of the endurance race Mille Miglia. The win was courtesy of its rigorous design of lightweight, aerodynamics and a powerful and reliable engine of 136 hp inline six-cylinder engines.

In other words, the winning vehicle that comes with features that remain the basis for designing more sporty BMW models to date. The traditional coupe values were taken from the modern BMW Concept Coupe Mille Miglia, presented by BMW in 2006 as a tribute to the unsung heroes behind the success of BMW 328.

In their respective years, both the BMW 503 of 1955, designed by Albrecht Graf Goertz, and the BMW 2000 CS created by Wilhelm Hofmeister which was released in 1965 sets new standards in the design of the coupe.

Slender and graceful pillars of the roof line, close grill and fold twin BMW Hofmeister at the base of the column C, the name of BMW design chief at the time, gave the BMW 2000 CS an unmistakable design firm elegant. The design language developed a new stage in the new generation model – as in sports performance with a more powerful range of engines.

Large proportions of the coupe were refined and improved by a longer hood, while the dual round headlights gave the front a sporty characteristic. In 1973, the BMW 3.0 CS, the BMW 3.0 CSi and BMW 3.0 CSL models had been launched, driven by the engine inline six engine that develops up to 206 horsepower. In motor racing, too, these models dominated for many years.

The BMW 6 Series has also stirred and stimulated a passion for sport driving in a smart and luxurious two-door, for many years, right up to today’s BMW M6 Coupe with its dynamism and athleticism unmatched in its 373 kW / 507 hp motor ten-cylinder high-revving.

Classic coupe proportions in a clear format sports.

The design of a BMW coupe is an elegant and authentic expression of superior athletic performance rooted in the company’s unique expertise in the development of engines and chassis.

The proportions, aesthetic design language powerful and flowing lines embody the distinctive mix of elegance and undeniable dynamism – a design principle underlying the BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept also, albeit in a modern and innovative interpretation.

The conceptual model is a very sporty luxury Premium Class 2 for 2 people. Having passion for supreme performance to new levels in the BMW 6 Series range, is an expression of driving pleasure for the most exclusive.

The low silhouette of the BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept aims s low center of gravity, which is reflected in agillidad, surefooted handling. The long hood and a passenger cell that is set well back provide early warning of eager responsiveness to the Coupe and power delivery and dynamic performance in the sprint.

Powerful sculpture of body surfaces, particularly near the rear wheels gives the conceptual model an even sportier, while the roofline, in particular, which flows gracefully to the edge output the rear, a reminder of the concept is carefully honed to aerodynamic qualities.

Wave dynamics underlying the natural flow of lines and surfaces.

The surfaces of the body are defined by bold lines and precise, divide the body into a combination of concave and convex-contoured. The counterpoint between the lines and surfaces provided by the BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept an aura of natural, pure spottiness. This game is reminiscent of the movement of waves on the surface of an ocean, caused by the ebb and flow of tides and wind.

All body lines are continuous and uninterrupted along its entire length. Connect the front, side and rear of the vehicle to create a sculpted body shape that radiates harmony from all angles.

BMW style in a new interpretation.

The range, low altitude, the road that hugs the front position of the BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept is a true reflection of your sporty temperament. Hood surfaces are defined by four lines gradually converge in front of the vehicle. The two inner lines follow a path towards the BMW emblem, while the two outer lines end at the outer edge of the BMW kidney grille, which is wider at the top than at the bottom.

BMW grille marks the anterior end of body, leaning forward slightly gives the first taste of sportsmanship to come. The effect is heightened by the small angle at the top of the bar, which attaches the sport of tempered glass. This sculpture made the calendar feature gives an extra touch of luxury avant-garde.

The headlights, which are located well behind and below them, a contour line of bumper that flows down and outward, the kidney grille that looks even more dominant. The lower air intake runs the entire width of the front and divided by horizontal chrome struts with a wavy surface.

A fold defines the lower edge of the inlet air and wraps around the outer sides, in a slight curve that draws attention to the wheels and thus the sense of depth. Steeply dipping fog lights in good position for the outside of the lid, and work with three adjacent units of LED light, further accentuating the width and marking the position of the conceptual model.

Innovative technology changed the style.

The unique aspect of the frontal Concept BMW 6 Series Coupe is due in part to the dual round headlights typical BMW. With this conceptual model, BMW is the first time given the presentation of all LED headlamps adaptive headlights functionality.

LEDs are used for all functions from the main beam and the side and daytime running lights, direction indicators. LED lights that reduce stress on the top of the double round headlights create the characteristic hood, watchful eye of BMW models.

The innovative lighting technology is accentuated by the luxurious style. One of the cylindrical fog comes a little more than the other from inside the light unit, thus preserving the dual round headlights give an even when viewed from the side. The fog, which stabilized at its lower edge, are crossed by horizontal ribs that contains the LED.

The LEDs produce a bright white light which surprisingly provides illumination of the road particularly intense. They also reduce glare and have very low power consumption. While adaptive headlights functionality is also incorporated. That means that the lights go down the path, swiveling on the basis of steering angle and speed that matches the vehicle.

Side lights and daytime running lights as LED rings, the lower edge of which is stabilized – a regular feature of this innovative lighting technology. With strips of six LEDs in the double headlights used for indicators. Their lines match those of similar horizontal fog lamps LED style, found in the lower air intake.
