Buick Regal 2012 with eAssist

While continuously redefined as a Buick car brand on the rise, so does the emphasis on fuel efficiency at the manufacturer. This model shares the standard hybrid Summer and Buick Lacrosse.

Nicknamed "Buick Regal 2012 with eAssist" German sedan will receive the next generation of GM's mild hybrid technology as a power train option. GM says the model is capable of yielding 42 miles per gallon in city and 60 highways, which is a higher yield than the largest Lacrosse.

Compared with their self-defined competitors Volkswagen CC (35/50 miles per gallon) and the Acura TSX (also 35/50 miles per gallon), the Regal is much more efficient in fuel efficiency. Performance does not reach the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid (65/58), however, Lincoln is probably more expensive than Regal eAssist.

The new power train combines the traditional 4-cylinder, automatic transmission and the new GM hybrid system. The eAssist is also equipped with battery packs Lithium-ion battery, a small electric motor of 15 horsepower, regenerative braking, fuel cut system and start-stop technology, providing in total a 25% improvement in fuel economy on the Regal 2011.

Package Lithium-ion battery takes enough space for the luggage compartment, which now measures 11.1 cubic feet compared to 14.25 in the regular Regal. Is quite small, however similar to the 11.8 cubic feet MKZ hybrid. The eAssist still has reclining rear seats forward, but the passenger side is blocked by the battery pack.

In addition to its hybrid system the eAssist Regal comes with unique 17-inch wheels, air conditioning with fuel system, an Eco gauge on the instrument panel and a 7 inch screen that shows the hybrid functionality.
